Alveen Shirinyans is an associate at van den Berg Arbitration where her practice focuses on international commercial and investment arbitration. She acts as counsel, and tribunal secretary and assistant to the tribunal for Professor van den Berg, in a wide range of disputes across various sectors. Her work also extends to litigation before national courts in matters concerning the enforcement and setting aside of arbitral awards.

Prior to joining the firm, she was an associate at Hanotiau & van den Berg where she acted as counsel and supported the arbitrator practice of Professor van den Berg. Her earlier experience includes roles at White & Case, the International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”) and Orrick in Paris, and at the CPR Institute in New York.

She serves as the Deputy Chair of the Arbitration and ADR Commission of ICC Armenia and as a delegate for Armenia at the ICC Global Commission for Arbitration and ADR. Alveen is the founding member of Armenia Arbitration Days (ArbMenia) and served as the Chair for the Diversity & Inclusions Team of the Vis Moot Alumni Association.

She is admitted to practice in the State of New York, having obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California with a concentration in international business law as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management. Alveen is also registered with the Brussels Bar (B-list).

She is fluent in English, Farsi, Armenian and Turkish with a good command of German.
